CÔTE ST. LUC, Que. – Académie Baseball Canada (ABC) completed a sweep of Saturday’s baseball doubleheader at Gary Carter Field with an identical 6-2 win over McGill in the afternoon contest.
McGill managed only two hits in the game – a single apiece from Nathaniel Steffler and Gabriel Recque-Cruz.
ABC (2-0) wasted no time building an early lead, striking for three runs in the first inning on an RBI single from Arnold Ohanian and a two-run double by Mathis Duranleau. They added another tally in the third when Duranleau singled home Maxime Decarie, who had doubled.
McGill (0-6) clawed back in the bottom half of the third. After Bentley Dodson reached on an error and Recque-Cruz dropped down a bunt single, Steffler drew a bases-loaded walk to plate Dodson. Sam Walsh followed with a sacrifice fly to left field that cashed in Recque-Cruz, trimming the deficit to 4-2.
Starter Tate Spence was saddled with the loss for McGill after surrendering four runs on seven hits over five innings with five strikeouts. Relievers William Durnford and Eli Brisman combined for the final two frames.
ABC used five pitchers in the seven-inning game, with reliever Mathis McKenna striking out three of the four batters he faced in the opening inning. Zachary Landreville, Xavier-Raphael Brault and others finished it off, combining for 13 strikeouts overall.
Final totals saw ABC score six runs on seven hits with two errors, while McGill countered with two runs on two hits and one error.
Both teams have less than a day to recover with a return to the diamond on Sunday. ABC plays a nooner at College Limoilou, which McGill plays a doubleheader at College Drummondville at 12 noon and 3 p.m..

CÔTE ST. LUC, Québec – L’Académie Baseball Canada (ABC) a remporté les deux matchs du programme double disputé samedi au Terrain Gary Carter (Parc Trudeau), s’imposant 6-2 contre McGill dans la rencontre de l’après-midi.
McGill n’a réussi que deux coups sûrs dans la partie, un simple de Nathaniel Steffler et un autre de Gabriel Recque-Cruz.
ABC (2-0) n’a pas perdu de temps pour prendre une avance rapide, marquant trois points dès la première manche grâce à un simple d’Arnold Ohanian et un double de Mathis Duranleau. Ils ont ajouté un autre point à la troisième manche lorsque Duranleau a frappé un simple qui a permis à Maxime Decarie, qui avait frappé un double, de marquer.
McGill (0-6) a réagi dans la deuxième moitié de la troisième manche. Après que Bentley Dodson ait atteint la première base sur une erreur et que Recque-Cruz ait frappé un simple sur un amorti, Steffler a obtenu un but sur balles avec les bases pleines, permettant à Dodson de marquer.
