Comox Valley students shine at Skills Canada B.C. Provincials

Comox Valley Schools students delivered an outstanding performance at the Skills Canada B.C. Provincial Championships, held recently in Abbotsford, earning multiple

medals across a wide range of competitive skill areas.

Skills Canada is a national organization that promotes careers in skilled trades and technologies through hands-on, high-level competitions where students demonstrate industry-standard skills, creativity, and problem-solving under pressure.

Comox Valley Schools students competed in the following areas: 2D Animation, Automotive Service Technology, Spaghetti Bridge Engineering, VEX Robotics, Photography, Web Design, Welding, and Electronics.

Several students and teams stood out with podium finishes:

– Gold Medal – Web Design: Vlad Gubarev

– Gold Medal – Photography: Jack McAllister

– Silver Medal – Automotive Service Technology: Levi Mulligan

– Silver Medal – 2D Animation Competitors: Siam Sawatsky and Jordyn Wallace

Patterson

– Bronze Medal – Welding: Trent Lange

– Gold Medal – VEX Robotics (Team): Jack Barlow, Weston Burgess, Sean Peters, and

Alice Longhurst

– Silver Medal – VEX Robotics (Team): Drinnon Papp, Alex Misner, and Jake Shariff

These results reflect the talent, dedication, and perseverance of Valley students, as well as the strong support from their teachers and school programs. This impressive showing highlights Comox Valley Schools continued commitment to hands-on learning, career pathways, and excellence in skilled trades and technology education, and Valley Schools are incredibly proud of how SD71 was represented on the provincial stage.
