EDMONTON – Tomas Appleton and Raffaele Storti each scored two tries and Samuel Marques added four conversions as Portugal defeated Canada 38-14 in World Rugby Nations Cup action on Saturday in Edmonton.
Portugal, ranked No. 15 in the world, led 23rd-ranked Canada 12-7 at halftime.
It was the seventh time the teams have squared off, with Canada winning the first four, albeit the last win came in 2013.
Takoda McMullin and Brock Gallagher had tries for the Canadians, who will play Zimbabwe next Saturday in Winnipeg.
Canada battled back in the final minutes last Saturday to earn a 42-42 thrilling draw with Spain.
